Scilence Is Up Next | Bringing Undeniable Starppower

Emotional connection has always been the driving force behind electronic synth-pop artist Scilence’s music. A songwriter, rapper and audio engineer, Scilence has been captivated by music since the tender age of 4, and uses songwriting as a tool for self-expression. Uniting synth-pop with hip-hop, Scilence has curated a genre of her own, taking vocal inspiration and passion from Jonathan Davis of nu metal band Korn, while exploring synthesizer soundscapes from the likes of The Weeknd.
Scilence’s first experience of musical instrumentation began at just 12 years old, when she switched off the TV to practice instruments such as the guitar, drums and piano. Over time, she would pen lyrics to accompany her music, igniting a spark for songwriting. Becoming an intern at Black Wav Studio in California, she soon progressed as an audio engineer, while attending Studio West Recording School in LA.
Her skills as an audio engineer only excelled her production, when she featured as executive mix engineer on her debut musical project, ‘The Red Cup Demo.’ During this time, she concentrated on finding her feet and figuring out the direction she wanted to take her music. Inspired by a wide variety of artists, rappers such as Tupac and Eminem, who focus their music careers on important topics other than sex and promiscuity influence Scilence.
“I look up to new school artists such as Future and Young Thug, and I aspire to reach the same musical realms as ASAP Rocky,” says Scilence. “I take vocal inspiration from Jonathan Davis because his vocal delivery just can’t be put into one box, while as an audio engineer Rick Rubin is my favorite mixing engineer.” Scilence explains. This fusion of influences led to her sophomore album, ‘The Solo Cup EP’, heavily influenced by auto-tune and dynamic vocal effects. ‘The Solo Cup EP’ sees Scilence define and refine her personal soundscape.
Traditionally, her project releases are always scheduled for New Year’s day, celebrating a new, exciting year, when everyone brings out the red party cups, a signature visual feature in Scilence’s music videos and artwork. Her upcoming project ‘Scilence Unplugged’ (Live LP) will allow fans to hear live renditions of fan-favorite songs from her previous projects, with a jazz, Latin, hip-hop and classical infused twist. To be released on the 1st of January 2023, the LP will be mixed and mastered by Scilence herself, leaving her personalized imprint in both her songwriting and the finishing touches.
